Latvian Association of Crayfish and Fish Farmers

The Latvian Association of Fish and Crayfish Farmers is actively engaged in promoting and developing the aquaculture sector in Latvia. It represents the interests of its members by participating in regional and national seminars, conferences, and working groups dedicated to fisheries development, best practices, and sector-related issues.

The number of association members has been steadily growing, reflecting both the increasing interest and activity of existing and potential members. This growth highlights the rising importance of Latvia’s aquaculture sector and underlines the association’s commitment to fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange, which are the foundation of its activities.

The association aims to promote sustainable aquaculture practices in both commercial fish farming and in the “pond as a small garden” concept. It seeks to build cooperation networks with regional and international stakeholders and to address the sector’s key challenges and opportunities.


 

How to Become a Member of the Association

Anyone interested in joining the association can apply in writing by sending a short description of themselves and their motivation for becoming a member.

Applications should be sent to: kalani@ocean.lv. The company KALANI Ltd., a member of the association, provides resources for the association’s website.

On 13 December 2024, the General Assembly of members adopted a new version of the statutes.

The association aims to strengthen its efforts in promoting sustainable aquaculture practices, both in commercial fish farming as well as concept of “back-yard fish pond”. It strives in networking with regional and international stakeholders, and addressing the sector’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.
